GRAND PRAIRIE AMENITY CENTER

Hockley, Texas

The new Grand Prairie Amenity Center in Hockley, Texas will serve as a gateway to the New Grand Prairie Development offering a community space that is a flexible, adaptable and iconic.  The building’s central location will connect to amenities such as pool, playgrounds, and running and biking trails throughout the area.

The building will house a multipurpose event space, back of house support including community administration and catering, and pool support spaces.  The large and welcoming event space will have a kitchenette and large glass openings that overlook the site.

Overall site and building forms are derived from the rolling topography of the prairie elements and circular shapes left behind after rain events common in the area prior to human intervention.  The design takes advantage of water retention strategies by making use of soil excavated for retention ponds and used to shape the topography of the site.
