The K9 Training Facility project is  located on an undeveloped area of land at the Police Academy Training Facility, in South San Antonio and will act as a substation and training unit for the canines and their handlers. The facility requires a full outdoor training yard, kennels, administrative offices, open meeting area and several training rooms that can be staged for additional immersive experience for the dogs. Economy was key and the design of the pre-fabricated metal building was kept simple but with heavy duty finishes that will withstand the daily use of these working dogs. Outdoors, to allow for some respite from the relentless heat, several shading devices were employed to add architectural character to the facility.
